Watering

Every 2-3 days

Calatheas thrive the best when the soil is moist enough. Hence water the plants regularly every 2-3 days. This may vary depending on the atmosphere of where it is grown. If you find any of its leaves drying off or browning, it is definitely a sign that soil has dried off without sufficientwater. For watering Calatheas, use filtered/distilled water or any water that has been purified, as these are found sensitive to certain minerals present in the water. You may also allow your water to rest overnight to reduce the presence of any chlorine or fluorine particles.

Propagation

The most suitable way to propagate Calathea is through division. While repotting, determine the areas, divide the part and untangle the roots. Remember to keep the new division moist and warm by covering the pot with plastic. Place it in reduced sunlight until active growth starts. It may take 2-4 weeks for it to adjust with the new environment.

Repotting

You may do repotting once in a year. When your plant reaches its new growth phase, you may consider it as a natural indicator to consider repotting. While repotting, shake off the soil from its roots, place the plant in the centre of your new pot, add new soil and pat down firmly. Pour enough water and place the plant in a place where it will get bright but NOT direct sunlight. It may take 2-4 weeks for the plant to cope with the new change.
