ZZ plant / Zamioculcas is a tropical perennial flowering plant belonging to the family Araceae. The plant is a native of Eastern Africa. These drought-tolerant plants can thrive even in low-light conditions. It is characterized by small glossy, wide, dark green leaves on the stem. ZZ plants are generally considered as an air purifier, as it has the capability to absorb toxins from the air. Due to its unique features, the plant has become one of the most favored indoor plants. 

Money plant or Pothos is an evergreen perennial which creeps along with its aerial roots adhering to the surface. This popular house plant is most commonly seen in temperate regions.  The plant is an inmate in many parts of the Indian subcontinent and a native to Moorea Islands in the Pacific Ocean. It is one of the easiest plants to grow with minimal care. Pointed, heart-shaped leaves variegated with white, yellow or pale green color are its specialities. As an indoor plant, it can grow more than 2m to 20m in height, if given adequate support and care. They are known for its air purifying properties; it has the ability to freshen up indoor air from any chemicals like benzene, xylene, formaldehyde etc. 

Aglaonema species are evergreen perennials, flowering plants belonging to the Arum family, Araceae. There are about 20 species which come under the Aglaonema genus. These are differentiated according to their size, shape, color and leaf patterns.  These ornamental plants are known as ‘luck bringing’ plants for centuries. They are dark green, large-leaved plants with glossy, oval leaves. Some varieties have deep pink foliages. It grows 1 to 2 feet in length. It survives mostly in humid climates. It can tolerate dry air too, if you keep it from cold air. 

Calathea is a flowering plant belonging to the family Marantaceae, a species of flowering plants from tropical areas. It has around 60 species, and is widely known for its decorative wide leaves with patterned foliages and colorful inflorescence. It can be found mostly in forests and at the base of trees. As the light requirement for this plant is less, it is generally used as an indoor pot plant.

Orchids are perennial plants that grow attached to the trees rather than in soil. There are nearly 1000 genera and 25000 species of orchids which come with  distinctive features. A single plant can bear many flowers. Their blooms are mostly colorful and fragant. These plants are generally seen in the tropical regions of Africa. Hence the home growers should take care to provide a similar living atmosphere for your plants. These are generally easier to care for if such requirements are rightly met. They thrive even in sudden temperature or humidity changes.
